in Karakoram Mountains. It was first climbed by two Italian mountaineers on 31
July, 1954.
K 2 is considered more
difficult and dangerous than Mount Everest. A total of 246 people have climbed
K 2 while 2238 have climbed Mount Everest. A team of Pakistani mountaineers
climbed the second highest peak in the world for the first time in July, on the

Ferry Meadow or Fairyland
(Nanga Parbat) is the most beautiful place to see. The name was given to the
place by Willy Merkel, head of 1932 German-American Expedition.

is the 22nd highest mountain in the world and 9th highest
mountain in Pakistan.
Interestingly, the meaning
of name Masherbrum is not clear. However, it is believed to be a combination of
Mashadar (load gun) and Burm (mountain) as its double top looks like a loaded
gun.
However, some people say
that Masha is called the Queen in local language and in fact its name is 'Queen
of the Peaks'.
