Most Beautiful Places to Visit
The Himalayan mountains of Pakistani valleys are considered one of
the Seven Wonders of the World and it is not uncommon to find people from
different countries visiting them.
The country produces wheat, barley and dairy products but its
natural resources are limited to a few areas which means that a great portion
of these areas has been left unvisited. Here are some of the major stretches of our country:
Hunza Valley
Located near Quetta, Hunza valley lies between the foothills of the
Hindu Kush Range of the Karakoram Desert and the western edge of Lake Indus. It
takes about two hours to drive from Islamabad and take around 10 hours to get
to Hunza town.
Most visitors arrive in the early morning, making the trek the
longest trip possible. The views from the top make this a particularly stunning
location.
Hunza Valley is home to several glaciers and springs where hiking,
camping, and rafting activities are held. Hotels are also available in town.
Some other places to visit nearby include Nanga Parbat, Spindhor, Rumbur and
Dholi. All of these are UNESCO World Heritage Sites and should not be missed.
Since 2014, it is prohibited to use any kind of nuclear power
plants in order to protect the environment. Please note that while there isn’t
anything new happening at the site, no construction whatsoever is allowed until
further notice.
Gilgit-Baltistan
Some parts of this part of Pakistan are extremely remote, with only
a small number of tourists coming here and few hotels for visitors or locals.
However, those who do come are spoilt for choice as there are many places to
see and attractions to be had.
You might have heard of Chitral or Mastuj, both famous tourist
towns. Gilgit is also home to the largest river, the Hindukush River (also
known locally as the Badakhshan). It flows through much of the area of country
and is an excellent place to go swimming or snorkeling. There are also plenty
of hotels and campsites for families and visitors.
Khunjerab Pass
There are 11,000 m of the world’s highest mountain pass at
Khunjerab Pass. People go there for skiing, climbing and mountain biking. Even
though this part of the world was completely abandoned when this region was
ruled by Britain in 1830, the British still left their mark on this land.
They built railway lines, houses, and offices here, and many
monuments still stand and are visited by millions each year. One of these is
‘The Great Mosque of Peshawar’, made popular by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and
his successors. A museum containing information about the history of the mosque
is also available.
Abbottabad
Abbottabad is located in the northern portion of the city of
Abbottabad in Punjab Province of Pakistan. It is a Centre for handicraft
industry and artisans from across the globe compete to sell their wares on a
daily basis.
Visitors can enjoy various festivals and special events such as
Fajar, Wazir Khan, Rajasthani cultural festival among others which give the area
festive atmosphere. These festivals focus on the rich culture and traditions of
the area and showcase what makes Abbottabad so special.
Additionally, tourism and religious architecture are two other
important draws for visitors to the area. As of 2017, there are approximately
300 heritage buildings in the old city, and it would be fascinating to see what
they look like once restored.
KPK (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa)
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is another large area of Pakistan, especially
the province of Khyber. This area of Pakistan has very little to offer tourists
but if you want to see something spectacular then KPK will help you get there.
There are more than 20,000 km of roads, lakes and waterfalls and
can be explored by all sorts of vehicles. If you enjoy mountain biking, then
there’s lots of good places to explore and the hills look absolutely beautiful
and well preserved.
Although the weather is often hot and dry conditions are common,
KPK is a pleasant and comfortable place to live in especially during the summer
as temperatures are usually quite high. For local food there is a restaurant
called ‘Hundiya’ open every day at 7 am.
