among tourists because of polo festival. Freestyle polo is played here, and the
world's largest polo ground is located here.
The polo festival here
attracts tourists from all over the world. During winter season, there is heavy
snowfall here.
Shandur is famous for its highest
polo ground in the world where every year tourists from all over the world
visit Shandur in July to watch the polo match between teams from Gilgit-Baltistan
and Chitral.
Shandur also has two large
lakes. One lake is located near Mahoran Paul Polo Ground and the other lake is
located near famous Miss Janali.
Shandur has always been an
axis of disagreements and conflicts as well as political actors due to its
location right between Ghizar District of Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral District
of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Shandur Polo is a joint
festival of Chitral district of Gilgit Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa which
is celebrated every year from 7th to 9th July. This
festival is celebrated in the world's highest polo ground Shandur. Prominent
polo players from Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan participate in this fair.
