Rawalakot is located in
Azad Kashmir. It is 80 kilometers away from Islamabad and Rawalpindi. It is
always very cold here in winter.
Rawalakot has many places
that attract tourists like Poonch River, Tatapani, Banjosa Lake and many more.
Rawalakot is a beautiful
city in Azad Kashmir state of Pakistan. It is the headquarters of Poonch
district and Rawalakot tehsil.
Located at an altitude of
1600 meters above the sea level, this valley becomes colorful in spring. Along
with the greenery, there is also an abundance of colorful flowers.
There are several good
hotels in Rawalakot apart from ‘Tourist House’ of the Department of Tourism.
Here you can reach Kahuta and Azad Patan via Islamabad.
The city is surrounded by
mountains. At a distance of 20 km from the city, there is also a lake known as Banjosa
Lake.
The weather here is not
very hot in summer, but it is very cold and snowy in winter. Rawalakot was
badly affected by the 2005 earthquake.
