Neelum Valley is located in Azad Kashmir which is a tourist destination due to its attractive greenery, lakes and springs. There are dense green forests and mountains which further highlight the beauty of this place.

Neelum Valley is a paradise in Azad Kashmir state of Pakistan. It is situated on both sides of Neelum River in north and northeast of Muzaffarabad. Neelum is actually a village which is 2.5 km from Karan.

Neelum Valley was called Drawa before independence. In 1956, 9 years after the establishment of independent government, Ghazi Kashmir Syed Muhammad Amin Gilani proposed the name of Kashan Ganga River as Neelum River and Drawa as Neelum Valley in 1956 and according to the decision of cabinet these names were changed.

Neelum Valley is spread over a distance of 240 km from Chehla Bandi Bridge to Taobat on north side of Muzaffarabad, the capital of Azad Kashmir. This valley is as beautiful as its name.

Neelum Valley is one of the most beautiful valleys of Pakistani Kashmir where there are rivers, large streams of clean and cold water, springs, forests and green mountains. There are flowing water and waterfalls falling from high mountains, whose sharp milky water flows over the roads and hits big rocks and finally joins the muddy waters of Neelum River.

Neelum Valley comprises Neelum District, the headquarters of which is Athmuqam. Its two tehsils are Athmuqam and Sharda. This valley consists of long high mountains, dense forests and beautiful gardens. Due to the lack of good roads, very few tourists come here.
